The process of changing the scale size. In CNC programming the method used is the G51 word.

The change in scale is represented by P word such as P1.10 where 1.10 would be a ten percent enlargement and P0.90 would be a ten percent reduction in scale. The position of the scale point must also be defined because, as shown below, it changes where the new scaled geometry is placed.

To locate the scaling point its coordinate must be defined using "I" for the X coordinate, "J" for the Y coordinate, and "K" for the Z coordinate (all in absolute). Example: G51 I0J0K0 P1.5 is a 50% enlargement of the existing geometry (P1.5) generated from the origin (X0Y0Z0).
