Stored stroke limit (soft limits)

A limitation on axis movement for safety purposes. Stored stroke limits are limits set by parameter in controller memory that prevents machines from crashing hard against their mechanical stops. The stored stroke limits are turned ON with the G22 word and turned off with the G23 word. Stored stroke limits are often called "soft" limits and do more than just stop table movements. They also decelerate the motors just prior to reaching the soft limits to prevent damage to the lead screw mechanizm. G22 is often used as the first line in a program as part of the "safety" block.
